For a 1982 Toyota Tercel (made in July '82), I have destroyed the lower caliper bolt on the front left wheel. I bought a temporary bolt (8mm x 1.25 x 60mm, #5) from Lowe's and modified it be the same length as the upper bolt. Since the original bolt is a harder bolt (#6), I went to the Toyota dealer to get a replacement. Upon giving them my VIN number, I am told that there are two different lengths for the caliper bolts on the front wheels. On top on that, they no longer manufactured the lower bolt.
So two questions:
- How long is the lower bolt supposed to be?
- Which bolt should be shorter?
