92' Corolla Front Passenger Door Lock Not Moving

Door will not open from outside OR inside the car. The pull up / push down knob is STUCK and won't move. Usually a plastic piece will brake but that would cause the knob to go Up and Down but the knob just won't budge. No power windows or locks on this one. I'll have to slim - jim the door to gain access.

What could be holding the knob from moving ??

Thanks in advance.

If someone tried to slim-jim the lock, the connectors for the lock rods might have broken. Did you try the key? If the slim jim doesn't work, you will have to remove the interior door panel.

Sometimes the rods get tired and 'move' a little bit, interfering with each other.

You'll have to get the door open and the inner panel off and see what's binding the rod. Sometimes one of the plastic pieces that hold the rods in place break and cause the rods to jam, or something else is wedged in there.

Umm, Ray, that sounds like a neat trick, taking off the interior door panel with the door closed. Is it even possible?

Yes, it is possible but difficult. It may be necessary to remove the seat to gain enough room to work.

Yes this is in my mind as the body door opening flushes close to the inner door panel.

******** The seat is held in place with only 4 bolts. Remove the seat and you should have enough room to remove the inner door panel.

Got the door open with a flat metal blade from the outside.. Inner links all rusted so I used WD-40 and door is back to normal. thanks everyone

*********** WD-40 will probably not last very long. Try lithium grease, and make sure that the holes for the door drains are open and that the exterior weatherstripping is in place.
