97 tercel battery cable

My battery cable on the positive side was loose and my car would not start so we tightened it and it started. Well it did the same thing again, and we realized it was a little coroded so we cleaned it up real well, and tightened it very tight and the car started again. Well it is now on as tight as can be and not starting again. problem is, no auto parts stores carry a positive battery cable for this car.could the problem be elsewhere? i have enough power for radio and lights, but not enough to start the car. but if i mess with the cable the car will start. oh and this dumb car has an alarm that i want disabled, how do i do it?

Sounds like, rahter than a bad cable, you might have a bad terminal in the battery, unless of course, you've verified that you do indeed have a frayed, worn or corroded cable. Time to go to Toyota for the cable, I would guess.

For my next trick, concerning your alarm, is it Toyota, or aftermarket. If aftermarket, google the brand. You should be able to find the manual. If you do that, and have any further questions, write back!
