'99 Corolla Will Not Start

Hello,

When I try and start my '99 Corolla, the lights come on and the radio starts but the engine doesnt crank at all. I've checked the battery and there's nothing wrong with it. It's only 2 years old anyway.

Could it be the starter? How would I go about checking this? Is there a "quick and easy" way to determine this? Or could the problem be something else?

Thanks in advance, H

If you have an automatic transmission, try shifting into neutral and see if it starts. If it does, then the neutral safety switch is bad. Check the battery clamps to make sure they are tight and free of corrosion. Otherwise the contacts in the starter solenoid may be suspect. Check for power to the solenoid. If there is power to the solenoid, then it is the culprit.
