Camry MPG 25/35, Corolla 27/34.

Does the Camry really get better highway mileage than the much smaller Corolla?

Doubtful.. And note that the specs you quote are not quite linear between city/highway.. And both may actually do better in the real world. The new numbers they have been using the last 4 years or so seem to be pretty much a "worst case mpg". I think the scheme they used to use was more accurate as far as highway, but may have been too conservative for a lead foot. My 2005 Corolla gets 43 mpg at 65 mph. At 70 mph, maybe

40-41 mpg. Heck, I probably get 34 in the city.. :/
