So, you think a gallon of gas is expensive? Let's put this into perspective, shall we?

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 -- $10.32 per gallon;

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 -- $9.52 per gallon;

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 -- $10.17 per gallon;

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 -- $10 .00 per gallon;

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 -- $33.60 per gallon;

Vicks Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 -- $178.13 per gallon;

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 -- $123.20 per gallon;

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 -- $25.42 per gallon;

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 -- $84.48 per gallon;

........and this is the REAL KICKER......

Evian water 9 oz at $1.49 -- $21.19 per gallon $21.19 FOR WATER ... and the buyers don't even know the source.

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or Heaven forbid, PEPTO BISMOL or NYQUIL!!!!

More stupid ideas from Shmuckland Oakland. Except for brake fluid, nobody

*has* to buy any of those products. There's a choice.

I know what you're going to say next. Please don't.

I'll say it again: only idiots buy bottled water.

But it's necessary for the car battery.

We've prob. all seen these sorts of compariasons before; I have, a few times.

Thing is, while gas for our cars is quite -> very necessary for most of us (unless able to take mass transit on a routine basis), none of those products - with the excpetion of brake fluid on a very occasional basis - is all that necessary; we opt to buy them, rather than need to. And, we purchase them in small amts. rather than by the gallon, and often much less frequently, so the cost doesn't make as much of an impact ion our wallets as purchasing multiple gallons of gasoline each week does. So... the perspective is skewed.
