I bought a Toyota Carina about 12 months ago - after a couple of months, the engine begin misfiring at times when I'd say the engine would be hotter than normal - i.e. - when I put my foot down uphills, leaving the engine off for a few minutes after it had been operating normally, then switching back on. After replacing all sorts of bits (distributot cap/arm, injector cleaner), it was traced to a faulty fuel injector which was replaced (#3 cylinder). About a month later, #2 did the same. That was replaced and all was fine. The faulty injector was ultrasonically cleaned, and came through with a clean bill of health. When #1 injector started going faulty, I replaced it with the cleaned injector - that failed immediately, so was replaced. Now #4 injector appears to be going & the scrapyard's run out of these "blue" injectors (odd in itself).
This fault only happens intermittently, when the engine is "hot" - I am not losing any water, nor is the temp gauge showing overheating of any kind.
Does anyone have any idea whats wrong ? I've had it into a toyota dealer & another garage - no luck.
