GM finished

So that means almost every new source is for grownups who finished HS. Or do you expect him to read every article, even when there are thousands?

I'm not sure if Iraq was partially a revenge move for his dad not going all the way at the time, and maybe 43 didn't think things through well enough, with the economic consequences.

But hindsight is 20-20.

And these Presidents have what are considered the best advisors around, right?

I dont buy all the leftie smears about low IQ and all, the guy graduated from Yale.

Ok, how about "marxist"?

Obama is CLEARLY a marxist:

"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."

- Karl Marx

We can see that from the get-go.

People are in need, we MUST do something, and that involves increasing taxes on those who have, to pay for those in need.

==================

As you know, there are sources which Hack feels are unworthy of his attention. Two of those happen to be excellent news sources which run stories he won't see anywhere else.

Try that question on someone who isn't thoroughly familiar with your patterns.

The country may split into half a dozen areas, like that russian general predicted.

We could do well without California. Give them to Cuba, they deserve each other.

The conclusion: The mortgage mess was created by the private sector and the free market.

Banks volunteered to make bad loans where they charged low income people higher rates than available for their credit ratings, didn't investigate the claimed incomes, or they put people into variable rate loans with higher interest rates after the first year ("You can refinance then"). What federal program or lawsuits forced lenders into those loans? Also federal programs to help low-income people get loans actually had lower default rates.

It's a perfect example of free market greed at work.

Reinvestment Act of 1977. The goal of these changes was to=20make sure that banks were ?serving low and moderate income geographies?=20and making sure that these banks ?economically empowered persons of low=20and moderate income?. Regulators were then given more power to punish=20banks that did not comply with the new rules These changes led directly,=20I believe, to the explosion of subprime mortgages and contributed=20heavily to our current financial debacle. The changes did two basic things. First, the government changed the=20measure by which the regulators decided whether a bank was in compliance=20with the act or not. Prior to 1994, the ratings were determined in large=20part by what efforts banks were taking to reach into these neighborhoods=20- what advertising they were doing, how many bank branches they opened,=20what sort of outreach they made into offering loans and mortgages. The=20new rules made the rating dependent on outcome-based numbers - how many=20mortgages were signed, how much money was loaned, and so on. Those=20numbers were broken down on racial lines, as well as by neighborhood,=20and by financial status. In other words, for a bank to get a good rating=20under the CRA it had to actually start writing mortgages to low-income=20lenders instead of simply offering mortgages and advertising its=20services. This was not merely a matter of paperwork. As the Comtroller=20said in 1994, non compliance would bring out ?the full panoply of all=20our enforcement armorarium?. In other words, the government had a couple=20brand-new hammers and they intended to use them if banks didn?t make=20low-income loans.
