GM worse off than I thought....

Get real, from what I read even if one includes the eastern European countries, that are not part of the EU, they have less than 100,000 employees INCLUDING all the employees in their dealerships. LOL

Get real, you silly old drunk.

You said "the Japs do not operate in Europe" That means they have ZERO business operations in Europe. It does not mean they do less business. You said their business was non-existent in Europe and now you're trying to dig yourself out of a hole.

You drunken piece of shit. What did YOU expect a dissertation on their operations in the EU? The point of the post was clear, they do not have the presence in the EU like they do in the US BECAUSE of they do not have the same type of tax free corporate tax advantages they have in the US. READ the whole post, dummy LOL

That's not the meaning of the words you typed. If you'd sober up for a couple of days, you might be able to type what you actually mean to say LOL

I do not get the point of your question but of course international companies do take advantage of their economies of scale, to lower their overall costs, it that is what you are referencing. Why would they not do so?

That is why the Japanese use so many of their world sourced parts to assemble vehicles in the US, that sell in greater volumes only in the US, and import those small and midget cars that can not be made at a reasonable profit in the US, even when they do not need to pay US taxes on the profits.

You made a blanket statement "Mike Hunter wrote: > The reason the Japs do not operate in Europe" and they *do* operate there. Best be careful about blanket statement Mikey-you were wrong again for the umpteenth time.

The answer to that is actually simple. Corruption. But in more detail:

Cerbrus and Carlyle private equity hold a lot of GM/Chrysler paper respectively. Their client lists are the who's who list of the billionares club, filthly rich and powerful around the globe. Even Osama Bin Laddens brother, a Saudi/Muslim is in there. But lots of Americans too. Now these people want their money and if GM goes down, they will not get the 27% like return they got when Carlyle/GM engineered the sale of a profitable asset like Allison Transmissions. The plan all along was to strip GM/Chrysler of assets and cash then dump the husk on the taxpayer. For example, what happened to the $11B cash Chrysler had at the end of October in buyout negotiations with GM? Carlyle also got a lot of GM paper with Lehman Bros. for 10 cents on the dollar. Which if GM gets liquid means 10 times quick profit!

Now for the next part, remember Bush Sr is associated with the Carlyle group.

OK, we have covered the finacial twist. Now how to sell getting that taxpayer to bailout GM/Chrysler. It met with a lot more resistance in Senate and Congress as unlike Bush have to worry about getting elected. So they pony show it and with a backroom deal with Bush Sr. They wanted a GM-Chrysler/bailout but can't take the heat for it. They get calls daily from the rich and powerful and need GM/Chrysler tax dollars. So Bush, a lame president says I will take the heat, Obama says we are a socialist state, bail them out. Bush Sr. says bail them out..... so Bush breaks his form and bails them out. Congress does not cry misappropriation of TARP because quiety they support it. Nice tidy politicial way to bilk taxpayers for the billionare welfare clubs of the world.

Make more sense now?

What keeps them from doing it now is the sheer cost of a GM/Chrysler bailout is a politically hot potato. It may be too big to pull off and already has the stench of corruption so they are trying for a packaged chapter 11, probably with the sellout of taxpayers and a new PR plan to sell it.

It isn't over. GM/Chrysler/CAW/UAW - they feel entitled to you tax dollars.

Me thinks you are confusing minimum LABOR, with the minimum requirements for US parts and materials CONTENT clause, in the UAW contracts with GM

That does not seem to create a problem in the California Toyota/GM plant where Toyotas ONLY workers have the protection and benefits of a UAW contract. In fact the GM vehicles that have been made in that plant have a drive home price that averages 20% BELOW those that wear the Toyota brand on the grill, that are made their. LOL

You LOL at everything you say.

So do we, but not for the same reasons, Uncle Jemima.

Get real, you silly drunk. Try reading what was in the post, not just one line, WBMA

Only in the mind of a fool would it mean zero, it appears. LOL

Only another drunk would believe what you're saying now. LOL

Nope, not confusing anything. Union contracts often have minimum labour content clauses.

Good part here is GM should self destruct this year.

If I'm a racist, then why did the African-American actor **choose** to appear not just once, but 3 times in the skit? Was he forced to do it?

Let's view it again and see if he appeared to be under duress:

Nope. No duress. He got paid and had fun portraying your life as a drunk who swats imaginary little birds all day long.

Read your own post Mikey, you made a blanket statement and were caught-again.

I have worked in union shows as non-union contractor, I know the games, you have to in order to get the job done. But will admit, been a few years since I had to put up with that crap. But sure it still exists.

At least he now admits that the Japanese companies do manufacture in Europe. That's a small step in him acknowledging reality, LOL.
