Maintenance Req'd Light

07 Camry LE My maintenance req'd light came on yesterday and I can't get it to reset. I am following the instructions in my owner's manual as follows:
  1. Set parking brake;
  2. Open a door;
  3. Close the door;
  4. Turn on ignition without starting car. After a few seconds the lights are supposed to go out but all my warning lights including the maintenace req'd stay on. Is there another step? Thanks. jor

Wrong page - - try page 122 - - at least that's the page in my 2005 manual. It has to do with pressing the odometer reset button a certain way.

Oh crap - - I've got Prius on my mind - - your 07 Camry LE didn't register.

Just in case there's a similarity between models, here's a brief description of the procedure in a Prius:

Go to IG-ON (foot off brake) and make sure odometer reading is being displayed. Then turn the ignition OFF. Now, while pressing the trip meter reset button, go to IG-ON again and hold the reset button on about 5 sec until the odometer displays "0000000".

That's the same procedure for my Scion. This should be in the manual!

This same procedure works for a 2007 RAV4.

Toyota sure knows how to drive folks crazy. This instruction is easy, compared to all the secret whistles, knocks and grips you go through trying to teach a remote to work. I'm surprised you don't have to do all this stuff while humming The Hokey Pokey in E flat and cracking walnuts with your left foot.

You have to use the right foot.

Ha! Thanks, Chuck. It worked, however, I had to do the procedure with one of the trip meters active rather than the odometer. When doing it with the odometer, nothing happened. And Mack, the wallnuts probably helped. Thanks to all. jor

What if doing the Hokey Pokey _IS_ what it's all about? Tomes
