Matrix (2004) alarm issue

This has been happening off and on for the past six months, and it's seem to have gotten worse. Sometimes when I press the button to arm the car it locks the doors, but doesn't beep and arm the alarm. Also sometimes when I have my car armed, and I press the unlock button it unlocks the door, but doesn't give the *beep-beep* and disarm the alarm. So when I open the door the alarm goes off, and I have to try opening and closing the doors, sticking the key in the ignition, repeatedly pressing the unlock button and eventually it disarms. I took it to the dealer, and they reseated a cable, but that didn't correct the issue, and of course it worked perfectly for them. Any suggestions.

*********** The next time the door unlocks but the alarm does not disarm, try inserting the key in the door and unlocking it manually before opening the door. If this does not work, try inserting the key in the passenger door (if it has a passenger side key opening) and see if it works.

I suspect that the door unlock sensor for the security system is not working.

If the alarm is activated, try inserting the key in the ignition, turning it to the on position, then off, then back on.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I haven't tried inserting the key in the door when the alarm doesn't disable. Though I know that in proper working condition if the car is armed and you try to unlock it by manually unlocking the door, the alarm will go off.

If I try to insert the key into the ignition and turn it, while the alarm is going off, it does not affect the alarm at all. The engine simply will not start.

A friend of mine said that he thinks the wires to the alarm sensors may be corroded. So it's possible that the wires going to the door unlock sensors may be corroded or the door unlock sensors are defective. I'll try the key in the door lock next time it happens.
