Prius recall

That is one reason I stay with a dealer that treats me fairly. After all my years in retail I know the people I deal with and I know what is a fair price for both of us. They know when I walk in the door I'm am going to order a new vehicle and if they do not want to meet my price I will go to a dealer, of any brand, that will The reason I stopped buy Lexus' was the dealer mistakenly believe he had me hooked after three of them and waned to make too much money on a vehicle that had become overpriced to begin with since I started buy them. ;)

So what you're saying is that you're a blowhard who can't back his assertions. Thanks for the clarification.

Ahhh, another baseless claim from mike hunt...

If demand for hybrids remains very high, their resale will be similarly high. There's still a waiting list for the Prius at the nearby Toyota dealer, so I'm thinking demand is high. One might do better buying a hybrid...

Let's see, new Prius MSRP = $21,275 Edmunds TMV (defaults) for 2005 Prius = $20,262 (private party) Depreciation on Prius $1,013

New Ford Crown Victoria MSRP = $24,510 (lowest trim level) Edmunds TMV (defaults) for 2005 Crown Vic = $14,767 (private party) Depreciation on Crown Vic = $9,743

Maybe I should pick on something smaller than the Prius? How about a two-door Focus? $13,450 - $9,216 = $4,234

Gee, mike, whaddya think? Should I avoid that hybrid like the plague? Costs less in gas and then far less in depreciation. I'll go with the Crown Vic. I just hate having excess money in my bank account.

DUH! I just did.

No. You're a blowhard. What part of "be specific" do you not understand?

Do you buy and trade Lincolns? That won't compute. A Lincoln that sold for $36,000 in 2004 is going to net you about $20,550 as a trade in 2006, or nearly $8000 per year down the tubes.

I can see why you seem to be confused. In the first place I never implied the hybrids were not in demand, to the contrary the demand is so great most dealers around here adding a $2,500 'dealer package' to the Prius to make it an even worse buy. The vehicle to compare to the Pruis in size, power and price is the Corolla not a CV. They are not in the same league, Toyota does not sell a vehicle that compares to the CV at anywere close to the price. To get a Toyota this is even close to the CV in size and power one would need to buy a 50K V8 Lexus

Obviously you have not actually priced a new car recently. If you did you would discover a new 2005 CV can be had for 18K not 24K and the Pruis is going for at least MSRP. In any event I haven't owned either. I own a

2005 V8 convertible and a 2005 V8 luxury car. If you will re-read my post I was referring to wisdom of the average new vehicle buyer of buying a hybrid, not to used vehicle. I still could not care what your chose to believe of what type of used car you prefer to buy with your own money. ;)

And if you will reread my post, you'll see that I also included a comparison to the Focus.

You questioned the "wisdom" of a new vehicle buyer who would buy a car that would cost perhaps as little as $1,000 per year in depreciation where the alternatives are more likely to depreciate $3,000 per year or more. Apparently, you hadn't thought this through at all.

Who's wise? It isn't you.

Why would you even try to compare a person who buys a new car ever year to the average new car buyer who buys a new vehicle every three to four years? I certainly was not referring that type of buyer in my original post. I'll waste no more time with one who apparently just wants to be disagreeable, rather than stick to the subject of the wisdom of buying a Pruis over a Corolla to save money on fuel, which was my point all along.

Since 1989 I have bought 5 new Fords for myself and two for my Sisters from the same Ford dealer. Each time the complete sales staff had changed. One time "my" previous salesman had been bumped up to salesmanager, but every other time I called for a particular salesman, he was gone, so I had to start over. The only relationship I developed was with the people in the parts department - and then they changes the set-up there so that all my "friends" were in a back room and there was a new face on the outside sales counter every other week. Constantly reestablishing my discount status got tiring. I really make an effort to see the same service writer anytime I need something done, but I am there so rarely that hardly does any good.

disagreeable,

Amazing. Those crazy left wing radicals still expect public discourse to include evidence and reasoned argument.

Why bother posting your tripe, nobody you intend it for reads or pays any attention to it.

Well, I know it doesn't result in mike hunt providing evidence to support his ridiculous assertions but that's his failing, not mine.
