Dunno.. I'm with the lizard people.. I'm paying about $600 + - a year for full coverage with a $1000 deductable for the 05 corolla. Dunno how old you are, or the driving record you have.. I've got a good driving record, and I'm 51, so I just got a price drop last year after passing 50.. Dropping bad drivers? Can't say that I blame them. I'd drop em too after 3 wrecks or a total, if it was their fault.. As a good driver, I don't feel as I should help subsidize the ones that are bad drivers, and that is about what we would have if they kept the bad drivers with the company. Everyone usually gets to help pay for their blunders, as their rate increases will rarely keep up with their damage costs. I'll tell you who I'll never do business with again. ALLSTATE!!! What a bunch of sleazy bastards they are. Don't trust them. They will quote you a low rate at first to get you sucked in, and then they will either start jacking your rates, or decide you are a higher risk due to say your credit rating, and place you in a county mutual where they bend you over. They did this to me, and I had ***ZERO*** problems with my credit. They decided I was a higher risk because I manage my money well enough to not need or use credit very often. In other words, according to allstate, the greedy hands people, if you ain't in debt, you ain't living.. Sorry bastards.. I hate their guts, and will crap on their company every chance I get. I fired them, and went with the lizard peope. They have been *much* better than the greedy hands people.

$1700 ???? Are you in one of the high theft cities, or what? For my 2002 Tacoma ($25K purchase price), I never paid more than about $650 for full coverage, $500 deductible. I shopped around and got the best deal from my agent, who put me with Traveler's.

Don't you watch TV? It pays to switch companies. I had The Harford and switched to Geico to save $365. Then I switched to State Farm and saved another $415. The switch to Progressive saved me nearly $500. My new company is going to send me a $20 check. LOL

I used them once. Was with them a couple years too until they raised their rates two fold over what I was paying for no reason at all that I could think of. Switched to AIG, liked them... then tried out Unitrin and liked them too. I've been with Mercury now for a while and while their auto draft happens whenever they feel like it, they are cheap and provide great coverage. This is in California by the way.

I did just do a quote for Progessive -- looks like they have good rates again so I might switch but so far very happy with Mercury for the most part.

No deductable costs alot more, a 10 yr old car should have 500-1000 deductable

THey did when I was living in CT 20 years ago. They were dropping people left and right!

I guess they realized if they kept doing it, they wouldn't *HAVE* any customers!

We haven't been able to. For the last 3-5 years all we had was 3-4 companies, and the Insurance Commission set the rates.

We have such idiots driving here in Mass a lot of companies didn't want to write policies, couple that with a high theft rate in certain areas (HOLYOKE) and there weren't a lot of choices.

See my new post...
