snipped-for-privacy@e86.GTS (Hachiroku=A0...) Thanks a lot, Comcast. Comcast should be your cable provider of choice...NOT! My Mom has Basic Extended cable, which means she gets the local channels and some cable-only channels. Her particular favorites are (were) WE, Lifetime, Hallmark, ETWN and Comcast's news channel, NECN.

Personally, I've never seen anything wrong with someone living with their parents, as long as they're not just sitting around. It makes good economical sense, and if you and your parents get along well, respect each other's privacy, etc., it's ideal for single folks.

Additionally, this lousy economy has caused *thousands* (maybe millions by now) of established, middle-aged folks to move back home. Further, if the parent(s) happen(s) to have significant health problems, having occasional health care people attend them, while the adult child usually takes care of them during the day, can create great peace of mind.

Before anyone asks, no, I don't live with my parents. I'm married, with 2 adult children. I think that can be a big mistake for married folks, anyway, but for single people it's always seemed logical to me.

By the way, Alex Trebek, one of the wealthiest people in show biz, lives with his mom (she has her own part of the mansion). He could certainly afford to set her up in her own detached place, but lives with her because he wants to do so. I don't think that's pathetic. I think it's sweet.

Let's see. She has an apartment in the house. She doesn't want to rent it to someone she doesn't know. I need a place to live, so why should I pay rent to a landlord? I pay enough in rent to cover all the expenses, we both get a break. Yeah, works for both of us. [This posting contains Japanese text that can't be displayed on your WebTV Internet Terminal

I think the U of Pitt did a study that said overexposure to EMF's can lead to your ending up living with your parents for longer than normal.. But they didn't say anything about 3 DECADES LONGER..!! Damn..what do you do ..sleep with the cell phone on..? LMAO ..this explains a lot...(just getting started)...

{OT} Comcast Sucks. Comcast REALLY sucks! Comcast REALLY REALLY SUCKS!!! Did I mention COMCAST SUCKS?!?! Group: alt.autos.toyota Date: Sun, Jul 27, 2008, 11:57am From: snipped-for-privacy@e86.GTS (Hachiroku=A0...) Thanks a lot, Comcast. Comcast should be your cable provider of choice...NOT! My Mom has Basic Extended cable, which means she gets the local channels and some cable-only channels. Her particular favorites are (were) WE, Lifetime, Hallmark, ETWN and Comcast's news channel, NECN. Approximately evrery six to eight months, Comcast decides to raise the rates. OK. But, along with the rate change, Comcast also takes away 3-5 channels. Comcast took away WE a long time ago. The previous round they took away ESPN Classic, and in this past round Comcast took away... Hallmark, ETWN and NECN. Not only that, Comcast took away the TV Guide channel, which was banality personified, but did offer a channel guide better than the local newspaper. Why did Comcast do this? So they could provide 'better service and more bandwidth to our Internet subscribers." Wiat a minute...Isn't Comcast a CABLE company? Didn't Comcast come into this area to provide cable TV to the area? I'm sure my Mom is really happy that Comcast chose to take away channels from Cable subscribers so Internet subscribers could have better service. Hallmark is gone. Comcast has made it a premium channel, which means you have to buy a bloated 'package' in order to get it. The rest of the channels can be had by 'renting' a box for $4 a month, which she does not want to do. She's retired and live off her SSI, so increasing costs for cable TV is not an option. So, thank you, Comcast, for taking a dump on cable subscribers. Bet I'm going to try to have you removed the next time your contract expires... Or time to go to satellite... Well, I don't live *with* her, I rent the 'in-law' apartment in the rear exposed basement. My own garage, my own door, and living room and bedroom. Shared kitchen.

Why should't I? She gets her expenses paid and I get a place to live without some landlord or other tenants telling me to get my cars out of here.

After the last divorce, there wasn't a lot left to buy another house...

Sounds like a blast..

I was lucky to be allowed to spend a couple of months at my parents place back in 1981 after I got out of the Army. I was 23. After 2 months my mom saw me getting too comfortable and threw my things on the living room floor and said get to gettin'. My dad was devastated.

I've been on my own since. They called it tough love back then. I guess that's what it was ...or maybe she was just sick of kids having had her last (me) in her mid 30's...

Damn comcast..!

let me know how that conversion from R12 to R134 goes. I've been thinking about it for the Trooper, but I'm not sure that it would be any cheaper than just getting the R12 system fixed and recharged.

The problem is the huge difference in the price of the refigerant. R134 is far less expensive and the conversion kids are comparably cheaper and have proven to work quite well. I have changed all of collator cars without experiencing any problems.

I just talked to a shop and they would do it for $285, plus if there is a component that needs replacing. Does that sound out of line? I don't have any gauges or know-how to do A/C work.

This is for converting an R12 to R134A, NOT a Toyota vehicle. I know they say the RD has to be replaced, I assume this is part of the conversion, I will have to check tomorrow. It's 94 here today, like an oven with dew point in the upper 60's.

I paid less than $170, but it is hard to know the prices in another person's area, shop around WBMA

I'm making notes. Will do on the search. Thanks

I have heard of that also. If the R12 oil is not completely purged then it could affect the life of the compressor. The dryer must be changed also and all remaining R12 purged. They are not compatible.

I don't get it. Are you jealous because I was able to get an apartment for about $350 a month? With a garage? and room for 6 cars? [This posting contains Japanese text that can't be displayed on your WebTV Internet Terminal
