scarce junk

The front Toyota chrome emblem on my 1997 Camry is missing. I doubt it fell off since the way it is attached doesn't lend itself to that. Regardless of how it went missing I went to several junkyards to see if I could get a replacement.

At each yard I visited I was basically told the same thing by the proprietors. "We don't have anything like that here. We just don't get Toyotas very often."

I am now at a quandry since the dealer wants $30 plus tax for a new one and I don't want to procure one the same way someone else did.

I went through the same once upon a time trying to find a replacement seat and wiper transmission for a 200,000+ mile Toyota pickup. After a year, I found them, but it took a lot of work. It seemed that there was an instant wholesale market for any of the good examples they got, what was left was burned, totalled, or worse, bloodstained.

eBay? I picked up extra cargo rail hardware for my Tacoma for less than

50% there.

I needed some A/C knobs for my Geo once and was able to negotiate with the dealer. He was selling them for something like $20 each and I was able to get him down to $15.

Try calling Arriva Automotive Recycling in Baltimore. Their phone# is:

410-558-1400. Don't know if they ship but they carry recycled Toyota parts. Used to be Toyota exclusive and been there for years. Think they started carrying Nissan parts and someone else now too.

Who would want a Toyota emblem? Put a BMW emblem on there instead!

Or try online junk yards. Googled:

I suspect that Toyota, Scion, and Lexus emblems are interchangeable since they all have an oval background.
