Suggestions on Replacement Axles

Well, the boots have blown on my 1996 Camry axles and its time for replacement. I'm going to go ahead and do the axles, not just the boots sonce I'm thinking the labor will offset the part prices. Any suggestions on who to get the axles from? I'm looking for opinions on OE vs aftermarket parts.

1996 & Camry in the Replacement Parts window, then navigate toFront Drive Axle->Drive axles->Axle assy or Axle Shafts & joints. I haven't bought from this site, yet, but they have the parts catalog online and offer a discount.

Good luck,

The mileage on your car will tell you the likely life of OE parts. Unfortunately, there really is no good method tot predict the life of aftermarket parts, so I would use OE.

If you are doing the labor yourself, I would spend the extra money on the OEM parts. If not, I would advise you to preferably have Toyota do the job with Toyota parts, if not the Toyota dealer, make sure you are using someone conscientious, familiar, and most important, experienced. On some vehicles it can be a challenge to install the new axles depending on clearances and you must be very careful not to damage (cut) the boots. Some guys use covers / protectors to prevent this. Drive axles are a critical part and should be treated as such. IMHO. Good luck.
