I coulda sworn "Mike" typ'd:

The only thing that doesn't ring true is the "youth-oriented" part. So far, every xB owner I've seen has been a baby boomer . . . .

.dbu,

I see those fugly things everywhere I go; even here in bubba country. Who can figure kids, huh? Though my son, who'll be 18 this month, thinks they're ghastly.

I haven't seen anything but teens driving them - or early 20s types. I've seen nothing but middle-aged types like myself driving the Xa, which we have ourselves.

I had a look at the box and it looked very practical. I just wonder about the ride, how is it? How's the gas mileage?

Most of the Folks I see driving them, as well as Honda Elements, are old folks not youngsters. It must be because of their poor eyesight

Different area, I expect. I'm in Minnesota. When I was in San Jose CA I saw several xA models being driven by kids, but around here the only Scions I've seen have been xBs being driven by boomers.

BTW, the Scion models are named "xA" and "xB". not "Xa" or "Xb" as you seem to think . . . .

Homely. They're homely. There IS a difference.

Your son is out of it. MY son, who is 21, thinks my xB is "SWEET"!

Ride isn't smooooooth. It's not bad, but it's a tiny leetle box of a car, so that means a choppy ride. You want smoooooth? Get a Camry.

Excellent. I'm getting high 30s on longer trips and almost 40 for my

10-mile commute. And it's barely broken in.

Heh, heh, heh . . . good one, Mike.

Mostly I got my xB 'cause I was sick of the rattling and low mpg of my Grand Voyager. When I sat inside the xB and saw the large interior inside a sub-compact exterior I was interested.

When I drove it and it had good handling and tight construction, I was hooked. I got mine in Camo (dark green) with a stick (the automatic was too twitchy and I like a stick better anyway).

He's not 'out of it' - he just has a different opinion.

And the right opinion too, I'd say...that xB is one ugly excuse for a car...

Actually, I believe that the paint just isn't thick enough to cover the ugly.

And one saving grace is that you cannot lose the 'car' in a big lot, you can see the ugly wafting up from it at great distances...

I remember you saying these very same things about my Echo

*fwap* My Echo is *way* better looking than that monstrosity they call the xB (See, I got it right). Of course that's like saying herpes is better than AIDS...

I noticed one in the showroom the last time I was at the Toyota dealer. Somebody was trying to sweeten the looks. That xB had a $4,000+ custom paint job!

As for me, it's "pretty is as pretty does." Close to 40mpg in Don Fearn's real-world experience? Roomy interior? I'd consider it. My wife, however, thinks it's ugly, so that's that.
