Another tomato can on the road. Made in China maybe? I'd be scared to death driving one of those things on the freeways or anywhere. Too damn small.

Apparently you didn't get a chance to see the aftermath photos of when a Prius hit a Dodge Ram head on with both vehicles doing about 60MPH. The Prius was mostly intact except for a broken floor pan directly behind the driver's A pillar and having the engine and trans pushed back while the Ram had a crinkled roofline and some extensive damage. Here is a quote of the injuries sustained by the man driving the Prius (according to the "small and unsafe" crowd he should have died instantly):

The owner of the 2007 Prius is still alive. He is still in a coma (it has been 5 weeks and 1 day since the accident)

It has been a tough battle for Jack but he has a lot to live for and he is still fighting. The nurses and doctors are taking great care of him.

As far as injury goes:

- All of his ribs are broken but healing.

- His left femur, tibia and fibia were broken - he now has two rods on his left leg.

- His right knee was shattered - he now has alot of hardware holding his knee together.

- His right hip is now replaced with an artificial hip

- His left arm was broken at the radius and ulnar - now has a rod holding those together.

- His kidneys are now functioning - he was on dialysis for a couple weeks because his kidneys failed.

- He is still on a ventilator because his lungs are still not strong enough to work on their own

-They have him off the coma inducing medication and he is beginning to show subtle signs that he is waking up.

The car itself was completely totaled. The rescue crews had to use Jaws of Life for an hour to get him out from under the engine. The paint cans that were in the back of his car exploded and one of the lids hit his head, that is why he has head trauma.

Jack Kriz is a strong man and has a phenomenal support system. When bad things happen to good families people really pull together. He loved his Prius and is lucky to be alive.
