camry 2005 le v6 brake lights gone

My Camry 05 with 25,000 miles had both brake lights go dead almost at the same time within one week apart. Is this common ? I had my dealer changed the right side brake bulb 5 days ago (warranty covered item) but today someone told me , "hey your left brake light is not working" and I though OMG. Of course is covered with the warranty and I get a free car wash from the dealer, Is this something that happens around 25K miles ?

Thanks

Probably the switch, not the bulbs.

yep, if it happened again, I'd want to apply a known 12 volt power source and test the light bulb (or do it simpler by sticking an ohmmeter on the bulb to assess the continuity through the filament.)

Maybe Ray O knows whether there could possibly be a power surge allowing the bulb to blow from too much voltage?

============= Just make a policy of replacing signal lamps in pairs.

1) If one goes out, the other can't be far behind 2) Keeps the level of illumination constant between sides - two new filaments instead of one new one old

If they blow a second time, then start looking for extranwous sources.
