Just picked up one of these used. Can anyone tell me how to disable the Daytime Running Lights on this one (made in Canada, I guess that's why they have them on this model).
Thanks,

Why disable them , they are on for your saftey I dont have drl and yesterday narrowly avoided an accident when someone didnt see me and pulled out on me. I want them on my next vehicle.
Because there are sufficient situations that warrant "lights-OFF" either entirely or intermittantly. Furthermore, you have NO assurance that if your headlights had been ON that the other driver would not have pulled out anyway. No assurance whatsoever.
The dealer should have the procedure to disable them. But, first check your local law for any requirement for DRLs after a certain manufacturing date or the like. My '03 Corolla -had- (as in past tense) DRL and I found it necessary to disable the feature shortly after purchase. Toyota uses the same DRL box for many different models so disabling yours is probably quite similar. I now have "normal" full control over my lights. I did the work myself at home. Both your Toyota dealer and lightsout.org can help you.
No. However, if you insist, contact your dealer. There is a TSB covering that topic.
Agreed..there are no guarantees on anything anymore. However, the ODDS are greater that WITH the DRL's the other drive MIGHT have seen him.
Maybe just turning on your regular headlights would of helped? Or the other driving maybe was talking on a cell phone, eating a cheeseburger, changing radio stations, swapping a CD in the radio etc. Your being too hard on yourself, it was everyonelese fault except yours.
There are no "odds" either. Neither of us can see thru the other driver's eyes (the one that pulled out) nor know any preoccupying / distracting thoughts that were going on during those moments. I can tell you first hand that EVEN WITH a headlight ON that people -see- but do not -process- an oncoming motorcycle. People see "like" vehicles first. Proof? Ever notice how many cars just like yours are on the road ... once you own one that particular model?

Thanks. I didn't ask for a debate on DRLs and your information was the closest in giving me what I need.
However, I've noticed at

Apple and orange logic.
Sharxie... I don't expect you to think about anything. I count on your predictable reactions.
