I've never clean the fuel injector for my 2000 Camry V6. Any comments on whether I can just buy a can from auto store to clean it myself or I should have the dealer/auto shop to do this for me? What brand is good for this?
Thanks

Sure put in a can of cleaner , it wont hurt. With good gas you should never have to clean them. I would not pay to have it done since they are most likely ok.
========= Red Line complete fuel system cleaner. If you find their home page online, you can read their technical information and discover why this is the preferred cleaner.
I'm interested in what injector cleaners do and how you know you need to clean them. My 2005 v4 has 154,000 miles and has never had a tune up, not even a plug change. I just got 29.4 MPG during the last leg of a trip. Do I need to apply a cleaner?

================ Is this a leased car you're planning to trade next year?
I don't see what the financing options have to do with the mechanical performance.
My point is the performance has not changed in 10 years with no noodling under the hood. But I hear a lot of "injector cleaning" posts and Jiffy Lube is always trying to sell me a cleaning job. So why should I consider an injector cleaning? Several people say it has caused problems.
If you use any of the "tier-1" gas you shouldn't need to clean your fuel injectors. Today's gas is required to have injector cleaners in it, so the need for aftermarket prodcuts has diminished. But Costco has Chevron Techron, 4 bottles for about $9.99 last checked (long time ago).

============================ I would not have Jiffy Lube do injector cleaning. If you're interested, read the Red Line complete fuel system cleaner technical data, and form your own conclusions. There are four pages of information with charts and graphs that thoroughly explain why you might consider using the product. Personally, I would not use another brand of injector cleaner. Some use harsh solvents, some use compounds identical to what is already in the gasoline, some raise temperatures, and some are simply ineffective. Typical symptoms of clogged injectors would be rough idle, lower fuel economy or loss of power. Doesn't sound like you have those problems. Financing relates to term of ownership. Many people who lease like the idea of driving a new car every couple of years, which might involve a different perspective on maintenance than the owner who plans to keep the car for ten years or more.

I'm a fan of Chevron Techron every 6-9 months. Never seen it as cheap as
Jiffy Lube is in business to make money, Stubby. If your car is running smoothly and getting the mileage you traditionally expect, you don't need a injector cleaner.
I hope you change your oil with more attention to mileage than you attend to spark plugs, etc.
It doesn't hurt anything to run a can of gas treatment/injector cleaner through your car occasionally. But buy a good one, not a cheap naphtha based product. Some of these can help disperse condensed water from your gas tank (if there is any there), keep the injectors clean, etc. Sort of like taking vitamins....maybe you dont need them, and then again maybe they help.
