I am a new owner of a 2007 Camry Hybrid and love all aspects of the car except the headlights.
Much of my driving is at night on curving unlit roads and using low beams due to oncomming traffic. The Halogen stock ights on this car simply don't cut it ... they are in fact worse than any lights that I have driven with.
Has anybody done a refit and found a better set of bulbs ... I really do not want to rewire the whole stup.
Funny, but on my 2007 Camry XLE, I have found the headlights to be brighter than those on any other car that I've owned. Is it possible that yours are not properly aligned?
Assuming no defect the OP might check to see if the bulbs can be replaced with HIR bulbs. Wattage should be the same but they give off almost twice the light. Don't buy any of the fake blue light specials. GE HIR bulbs have an internal IR coating that reflects back heat to tungsten making it burn much hotter but they still hold up. Some trimming of the base may be required to fit. Check with Daniel Stern at

to see if he has a compatible bulb replacement. But check for defects first. Maybe voltage isn't right at headlamps.
The first thing I would do, is determine the supply or battery volts at the headlight bulbs are no lower than 0.5 volt below battery level. This means you'll have to access the spade-connectors at the bulb socket, which supply volts and earth. Do it with the vehicle idling, and after obtainjng the socket readings, compare them to the battery volts. This job can be done with a $10-15 multimeter set to DC-Volts range, usually the 20v range or one geater than 14 volts. The battery should be between 12.8 to 14volts car idling with AC and other accessories off. The lamp volts no lower than about
1/2 volt below the battery.
If you have a large difference, measure the suply volts at the headlight fuse(s). If its low there as well, you maybe loking at a fault in the battery wiring system. Checking other supply volts eg AC, parking lights etc. If low, keep measuring at acessible points while moving closer to the battery. May need a w/shop manual.
I have a set - I can confirm their add that they are 20% brighter and let you see 25% further down the road. Plus they don't melt the expensive plastic lenses or require upgrade/replacement of vehicle wiring. YES - the blue replacement fake HID bulbs are hype. The Sylvania SilverStone Ultras really work at a reasonable price.
