How to replace air filter on 2002 4 cyl Camry ?????????

Anybody explain how? It doesn't have clips like early camrys. Do I remove the 2 bolts on right side of housing? No info in owners manual and no repair books in stores. Should be simple.....but, made to look difficult. Thanx Marty

Marty,

Take the car into your local dealership and have their service mechanic show you how to do that. I asked that question to my dealer and they showed me how to do it and what to look out for.

I would suggest you find a more honest dealer. My dealership does these things for free.

i understand the dealer is just out to make a buck --but You know how to get the air filter top off- why not just tell us all and save a ton of time for all of us you can e-mail me too i mainly need to know if i need to remove the large air intake hose & clamp i know i must remove the wire clip & the bolts holding the top but is there something special i should know? did the dealer do something special to connect it will i get a "check engine" light? thanx for any help (i hope)

I am not too sure on how to remove it. I recall the mechanic showed me how to do this, but since they don't charge for labour to replace the air filter (just the cost of the filter itself), I was not too inclined to tinker with my car.

If memory serves, there are 4 screws that secure the air filter box. Open those, and make sure the sensor wires for the hose do not get bothered and then just remove and replace the air filter.

I am sure the handbook mentions how to do this as well.
