"Master" key and remote?

I have a '97 Camry I just bought from a local dealer. They did not provide the remote or the "master" key (read about this in the manual), and it has caused a big problem. I don't have the original master key or the FCC# for the remote. Is there some way I can get them? Here's the story behind all this...

The 3-disc changer was displaying an "E-02" code on the 3rd day we had the car. I called the dealer, and a tech there suggested we remove the negative battery cable and put it back on to try to clear the problem. It didn't help, and created a much bigger problem.

When I put the negative cable back on the battery, it caused the alarm system, which they had somehow deactivated, to reactivate. I cannot get it to shut off, I think because we have the "secondary" key only - it doesn't open the trunk, which the manual says the secondary key will not do, and the car will not start because the starter cut-off is engaged. The red light button next to the steering wheel is flashing (which the salesperson told us was a "tire pressure warning light"), and I have had to take the negative battery cable off the car to get the alarm to stop.

This happened at 2:00 AM in my garage, by the way, because I work strange hours. The horn obliterated my sense of hearing for the night; my ears are still ringing. I'm sure I'll look back on it someday and laugh, but it'll be a long time from now. I am very upset with the dealer over this, but they sold us the car "as is", so I'm sure they won't help us with it at all. It's especially upsetting because I handed them a lot of hard-earned cash for the entire purchase price of the car, and expected to be treated right.

Please help!

I bought my 98 Avalon as a certified used vehicle, and they didn't have the master key, thus preventing me from registering any additional keys or remotes to the security system. They took 2 weeks trying to track down the master key, and never could find it, so they replaced the entire security computer and all the lock cylinders in the car. It's very expensive to do, but without the master key, you're stuck. I believe Toyota made design changes in 2000 to allow the dealer to hook into Toyota and assign a new master key.

Well, I'm happy to say I didn't have to go through that. The dealer had one of the master keys that they didn't give to us when we bought the car. They didn't have a 2nd one, so I had to fight with them to get one. Now I have a different problem...

The new programmed remote/key, which I'll call 1, works like it should, it unlocks the driver door on one unlock press, and then all the doors with a second press. It also locks the doors up when I push the lock button.

On remote/key 2, it does not lock or unlock the doors, it only cuts off the alarm when it's going off.

I wonder if there is a way to program the other remote? My wife will be driving the car primarily, so she'll have the good remote, it's not a huge issue - but it would be nice to have the other one work properly.
