Hi!
i just bought a Camry 2007 and found that it is much slower to accelerate than my 2002 version. I have been told you never get the real power of the engine before 50K miles. Is this true?

Yes it is true, and I have a bridge that goes from Brooklyn to Manhattan for sale. You can put toll booths on it so it will pay for it self in no time.

Toyota drives around a car for 50K miles before sending it to EPA to determine its horsepower, torque, and mileage. Whoever told you that has an ocean front property in Kansas that he will sell cheap.
But I've heard problems with the 2007 transmission skipping gears. So it's not the most reliable transmission around from the start. Otherwise it's the same engine as the 2002 with just minor tweaks.

Suspect after amybe 5k thins have loosened up in the engine but NOT as late as you were told.

If it has the same hp rating maybe there is an issue, you might get a bit more power at 3000, but not much, maybe even less, racers dont break in their motors, they race them new and get full power.
