Re: 04 Camry LE musty smell (update)

I mistakenly posted the wrong model year, it is a 2003 Camry. It seems the smell is coming from inside the door panels. If I roll down the driver side or passenger side front windows and smell where the glass goes into the door I can smell that musty smell. If I look down inside the door I can see the three drip holes are clear. It almost looks like it is the rubber or some other material in the weather stripping. I don't see any water accumulating in the door.

Any suggestions? Thanks

It seems like when the car is parked in the sun on these hot days, like at > work, when I start out and open the windows there will be this musty smell > for about a minute, that it goes away. I don't use the A/C very much so I

Musty smell is mold , remove panel and clean interior with bleach. Be carefull bleach is corrosive to rubber and Aluminum

The reason the smell gets stronger when youopen the windows is because this allows incoming air to escape and therefore overall airflow increases. While the windows are up,..the flow of air is small.

It sounds like there is some mold buildup in the air-vent system or the plenum-chamber beneath the air-intake vents where the wiper-mechanism is located.

Is the AC condensate drainage clear of debris/leaves? Is there any debris/leaves etc in the plenum chamber mentioned above?

The reason I don't think it is coming from the vent is if I don't open the windows and put the fan on in the fresh air position with no A/C there is no smell at all. The A/C condensation drain seems fine, lots of water dripping with the A/C on and humid days.

Thanks
