Road Noise

No doubt your tires are getting harder, and with less tread, noisier. I used to wear ear plugs with my old car while on the freeways it got so loud (and much louder over the 11 years I owned it). You can naturally expect it to get louder as the rubber bushings also get hard over the life of the car - not to say the rattles won't increase as well.

I think it takes many years for rubber to harden where it would cause noticeable noise --- his is an 05 Camry! Have you check the tire air pressure -- I add maybe 2-4 pounds over what is specified (since the specified is for a soft ride). Higher air pressure (not to exceed the tires rating) will give better gas mileage. Also make sure you have suffient oil in the engine and shut the outside air coming in. My 03 is still whisper quiet.

Some Goodyear tires seem to get hard as a rock after a year of use. After being screwed a couple of times I switched to Michelin.

Actually not. I change the tires on my motorcycles at least once a year if not twice. Mostly they wear out (3,000 miles), but they do get hard and slick (lose road grip) within that time. Explains why racers like new tires. The dealer said his sales rack tires get hard in around two years sitting on his shelf. He also asked me "Ever see a pencil eraser last more than a year? They're pretty much worthless in two."

To add to the tires, sealed wheel bearings and CVC joints also add significant noise as they dry out and rely more on the "drier" portion of the lube (moly. disulfide) to keep them lubed. Add shock noise as well. Nothing nicer than a good tight suspension on a new car.

Kinda sounds like how creaky old people make noise too, no?

Might be the road making the road noise.Before they resurface a road they put scratches on it with a machine.This helps the asphalt to adhere better.Makes a big roar when you drive it though.
