Timing belt

I have a 1997 Camry that has just turned 90,000 mi, so I need to replace the timing belt. How hard is this? Do I need special tools? Is there a site that gives the procedure? I have never done this before, but used to rebuild engines in the 60's. What do I need to watch out for?

Where can I get the parts cheap? eg. the water pump.

Get a Haynes manual from the parts store. Get a new pump from the dealer to avoid problems with aftermarket or rebuilt ones...

The only special tool you need is a mirror and flashlight to line up the timing mark through the hole in the cam pulley.

You can use either Haynes Repair Manual or visit your Local Public Library for a more detailed manufacturer repair manual. You might be able to search your local library database online at
