Many states don't allow them on the drivers side or passenger side front.......

Most states allow them, but they regulate how dark they can be. The regulations vary depending on which window you are talking about.

There are many different qualities of tinting available, each with different prices. Check the yellow pages for window tinting and get a quote. Use a quality installer, because there is nothing worse than a bad window tint installation that has bubbled up over time.

Back in the day, a person who had a Crolooa SR-5 told me that after he tinied his windows it was like gatting a bigger A/C for $80. I'm sure it's more now (had quotes of $325) but you still get the 'cooler'effect ;)

If you're adventurous, got to AutoZone. They have all sorts of tints. The tough part is going to be the rear window...you have to do it in strips, and you have to line them up just right.

Get yourself a *SHARP* cutting implement...the ones in the 'kits' aren't sharp enough. Also get some of the 'adhesion aid'. It's basically soap, but it works.

I did two of my cars, one using the adhesion aid and another using a foam type window cleaner (this was recommended by a friend). The tint went on great with the foam window cleaner, but is now bubbling up in spots.

I can't tell you how the other one is fairing...when it was on it was great (Wild Mint Metallic Tercel with green tint windows...and almost a perfect match!)

Not only was one roll of film bad, but when I went to get it inspected (in Mass) they made me pull it off...too dark to pass. Funny thing was, you could see right into the car NO PROBLEM! Stupid dumb-ass laws...

Yeah, but can you see OUT the windows, to check your outside mirrors? I thought not!

No, not a problem at all...It was just as easy to see out as it was to see in. Even though the state said it was too dark, it was a very light tint.

I have a Tercel wagon I tinted *really* dark because I have an expesive bass guitar and amp that I carry around when I play. Not a problem since I run it on a dealer plate. It's not the darkest, and it is a *little* bothersome at night, but overall I have no trouble seeing out of the car. But, this is the one that's bubbling up, so it will be coming off soon...
