Tires for Camry 2000?

What is a good set of tires for camry 2000 LE?

I am considering between these 3 tires which have all good reviews on tirerack.com:

Yokohama Avid Touring Yokohama Avid H4S Goodyear Regatta 2

I have the Goodyear Regatta 2 on another car and it is really comfortable. I am looking for comfort, quietness and control. Do not get any snow in Louisiana but rain and heat is something that is very common.

Thanks

I have Yokohama Avid Touriing on my 2000. The same wheels and tires off of my '97 I traded in. They were awesome on my 97. However they are a bit noiosy on the 2000. Still an excellent ride and handling. But for some reason, (maybe another mechanical issue such as allignment ) they are loud. Couldn;t ask for a better handling/riding tire though. this is solely my experience and should be taken as such.

I would suggest the Michelin Harmony or Hydroedge as they are both great tires. I just put a set of Michelin Energy MXV4 plus tires on my 2002 camry V6 and they are really smooth and quiet and handle well on the interstates at 100 mph.

I do not doubt Michelin tires but they are over priced. Goodyear is reasonable and YokoHama are cheap. Thinking about the Yokohama Avid but some ppl mentioned that it is a bit quite noisy (as mentioned in another post). Anybody can refute them?

The new Goodyear assurance that is out has great review. From handling, smoothness and quietness. Wonder if it is worth the extra

40$/tire over the Regatta 2 and $60 over the Avid.

Keep in mind ,these tires were quiet and excellent on the first car. When I purchased the later model car, the tires were about 8 months old, and the dealer had just put some really really cheap tires on the car I wanted to purchase. So in the deal, we traded our tires to the newer vehicle and they have become noisy with the new vehicle. this could be for a variety of reasons, but I believe they are excellent tires and pretty darned quiet also. I had a set on the car previous to the '97 Camry also, on an old Clebrity and they were great also. Very quiet.

FWIW Aivd is "advanced vehicle integrated design", means they're designed for cars like the Camry. Seem quiet enough to me. Long wearing. Handle well. And, as you say, very reasonably priced. When I was reading the reviews people were comparing them favorably to Michelins. They have a special tapered extra section of rubber in the sidewall to improve handling and soften the ride. There may be some newer designs out by now. But the tread pattern is definitely designed to be quiet, long wearing and handle the rain well. (closely spaced tread blocks - computer designed to vary size and avoid creating resonant hum, deep rain channels, and continuous center tread, plus full depth siping) Now that I have the Yokohama Avid Touring, I notice many newer tires imitating the tread pattern with very minor variation, on a variety of vehicles. The primary objection I've heard here, is that they're S rated rather than H. I've had mine up to 110 mph and they performed smoothly and flawlessly. Generally they're driven like a Camry, easy going, but continue to surprise me with their cornering ability.

I replaced my original tires on my 2001 Camry with Goodrich Traction TA's. They're fine and pretty good in the rain. Try this for pricing. Get a price from Costco, Wallmart, or other discount store. Then go to Sears with that price and they'll get that tire for you for 5% more off.

should I trust someone who drives 100 mph on the interstate?
