Transmission service question

97 4-cyl automatic

If I understand it correctly, I can drain whatever I can get from both the transmission and differential drains. (2 separate pluge, right?) And I can refill them both at the same time from the dipstick tube.

Is this correct?

thx, mb

I had a 97 V6 which is had one drain plug for both and you refill it thru the dipstick. BUT I'm quite sure the 4 cyl have the transmission and differential separate plugs and fills. You refill the transmission thru the dipstick tube but there is usually another plug (usually just looks like a bolt) that you remove in the diffential to refill it. Don't drain the differential until you find the other plug, are able to remove it and you can figure out a way to get fluid thru the fill hole which is sometimes a pain to get to. I usually use a hand pump for liquids to fill it up. Oh yeah duh, fill the differential up until the fluid starts coming out of the fill hole.

the differential work is best left to a pro unless you have a good pump its hard to fill
