Uncomfortable Camry Driver's Seat Solution?

A few months ago, my girlfriend ditched her 1992 Volvo wagon for her first brand new car, a 2005 Camry LE. She loves it, except for the non-adjustable steering wheel and the driver's seat, which she considers uncomfortable-- it's too short and too narrow. Someone else hit the nail right on the head when they said the driver sits *on*, not *in* the Camry driver's seat.

Has anyone else had a similar reaction and are there any ideas out there about rectifying the problem?

Thanks!

Wow, That's a pretty harsh look at it, but I agree with the seats being uncomfortable. There should be a manual lever under the steering collum to adjust the steering wheel position. I have not seen one that wasn't adjustable yet.

hit the "interior" tab on the spec sheet. It's the first item on the list

Thank you. Yeah, I should have said that it doesn't telescope; the tilt function works fine.

The one thing that bugs *me* about this car is that it initially accelerates very abruptly from a full stop-- it's very difficult to execute a smooth take-off. I took it back to the dealer and the service manager drove around with me. He said he noticed it, but that it was within normal tolerances.

Well, I've got a 2004 (same seats?)Camry, and is has 6-way adjustable seats (electical adjust), and I don't like them either. I agree that sitting ON them is a good description. After about 30 minutes, it feels like there's a bump under my legs about 3 inches up from my knees. No amount of adjusting cures it. Guess my Avalon seats just spoil me. They don't LOOK all that different, but they sure feel it. I'd look hard at another brand if I had it to do over again. I love Toyota cars, but those seats are the pits. (I'm 5'9" just in case you're wondering.) Steve

Bummer. If the problem is this pervasive, there must be something that can be done. Ever the optimist, I'm still holding out for a solution of some sort. If I figure one out, I'll post it here.

Zekers!

I just bought a 2002 XLE with leather seats, trading in a Highlander. I agree, the seats are a disappointment. The seats in the Highlander were great, I wonder why the inconsistency? I have also had a 1996 Camry, I remember those seat as being fine.
