1984 toyota truck 22re

Truck does not want to start after it gets warm, when you kill it it does not and is hard to start. I have added a new radiator due to the old one leaking, I have put a new head set and timing chain guides, and a new temp sensor, and a new o2 sensor.

I am thinking about changing out the distributor to see if that fixes the prob.

If anyone has experience this problem I would appreciate some feedback on it.

I just got the truck and would like to get it where it starts easy as it runs great just has the starting problem when it gets to warm temp.

The HC failed on the emissions test is why I changed the o2 sensor, and it seems to b running rich also.

Thanks

Since no one responded I thought I would let you know what it was since I believe no one knows what the prob. is: the emissions was the o2 sensor and the starting part was the dist.

Have you checked the airflow meter? It provides information on the rate of air flow into the engine.

I had a problem on few years ago on my 1985 22re. The "mearsuring plate" swings a pickup across a phynolic plate which has pickups on it to provide position information to the CPU. If it is worn (which mine was), the CPU can't tell how much air is coming in, and will make wrong decisions, even at start up. Could also explain running rich.

I tried "fixing that thing for several weeks" cause the part is not cheap. In the end, I replaced it with no further problems.
