1990 4runner oil leak question

I have a nasty oil leak coming from the front right corner of the engine block. As far as I can tell it looks like it is coming from the oil pan gasket. I have removed the "crash guard plate" and there is oil on the A/C unit as well. (I assume that the leaked oil has just been blown around)...

IMHO I think its the oil pan gasket...unless I am missing something

1990 Toyota 4runner V6 3.0 Litre 4WD

2 Questions:

  1. Is there any other oil "orifice" on the right front side of the engine block that this oil could be coming from (it definitely is motor oil)

...if I must replace the oil pan gasket...I have a feeling its a multi-step task...dropping the diff, idler arms, etc

  1. Are there online manuals for 4runners (1990)....my local library just had the Chiltons'...rather vague and general....

Thank you

Greg

PS: or should I just take to the local Toyota dealership

Make sure it isn't the oil cooler. I know you said the right corner and the cooler is on the left side but maybe the oil is just flowing that way. The

I would be interested in the solution you found for your oil leak. I'm experiencing the same thing on my 95 4Runner @ approx 90k miles.

Thanks, Chris

I missed the original post, but I just had my 90 4Runner (91K miles) valve cover gaskets replaced because they were apparently leaking.

My mechanic advised I should have my engine thoroughly cleaned so he could check for any more leaks, but said I should wait until warm weather was expected for several days, because the cleaning process good get stuff in the engine compartment wet and it might not work until it dried out. I guess warm dry weather makes it much less likely to have problems. Of course, it's been cold and wet ever since, so I haven't had it cleaned yet. But so far, it doesn't seem to be dripping any more.

The engine had oil on it starting up near the top, which was why he suspected the valve cover gaskets, but he couldn't be sure it wasn't also leaking farther down.
