2002 4Runner Stereo Question

Hi group, I'm thinking of using my tax return to upgrade the stereo system in my 2002 4Runner SR5 Sport. I want to get a new Alpine head unit & some better speakers. I don't think that I'll go with an amplifier, as I'll go for a head unit that will put out decent power. I know that the front door speakers are 6 3/4", those are easy enough to find. My question is what size are the rear door speakers? Are they an easy to find standard size as well? Also, I was thinking of just buying 6 3/4" 2-way speakers. Would it be worth the extra work to replace the factory tweeters as well, and go with component speakers all around? Or would I have to buy an amp to take advantage of that?

Anyone have any experiences doing this? I've put head units in & replaced speakers before, but never in the 4Runner. I bought it brand new and like how clean everything looks, so I'm thinking of going with getting installation through the place I buy the stuff from. Is there anything especially difficult about the 4Runner that might make me NOT want to do it myself? Or that would cause them to charge me extra??

I guess I'm just asking general advice for the best route to go to upgrade the stereo all around :) I don't want/need any thumping subs, but the sound in the 4Runner is not up to my usual standards for audio. Especially in the summer time with the windows down & Moonroof open, its sometimes inaudible.

they have a fitment guide - if you buy there they also provice free any plastic adapters and wiring pig tails to adapt to OEM harness. Why not first upgrade the speakers and see how it sounds -- the OEM speakers are really bad.

Thanks for the reply, and I checked crutchfield before I made my post. I'm definitely upgrading the OEM speakers, because as you said they are bad. However, I thought it might be easier to do all the stereo work at one time, and one fell swoop. Plus I'm an MP3 person and I want a deck that will be able to play MP3s. I also like the Alpine head units having auxillary inputs on the front so I can plug my MP3 player in if I have music on there that I don't have on an MP3 CD. Finally I've had great success with Alpine units, and I've also heard great reports of them going into 4Runners.

My real quandary is, however, the rear speakers. I cannot seem to find what size they are...
