AC Indicator light not working

Just had my 89 Toyota 4x4 AC recharged. Decided to recharge the R-12 rather than convert to R-134. It should last for several more years.

The green AC indicator light doesn't work. The light on the button acted strange two years ago when the AC performance gradually diminished. The light would turn on only briefly when I would depress the button, the compressor would activate, but mild cool air was produced only while driving on the highway. So to clarify, the button light would illuminate for a split second when the button clicked on. Once the button was fully depressed and the AC was running (poorly) the light did not illuminate. I figure this behavior was because the AC needed to be recharged.

Now that the AC is recharged, the light does not work at all. I asked the guy who performed the recharge about it. He said that the light was burned out and the switch/button needed to be replaced because the LED light bulb is so small that it can not be purchased separately. The switch costs $30 according to him.

I am just guessing but I did not know that LED lights burn out. I have only seen incandescent lights burn out. I do not have the expertise and since it is not working, I can not argue.

TIA AG2

I just changed out my AC in my 84 Toyota 4x4. The push button on/off switch light on mine is just wired to 12v so when the button is pushed on the light comes on. That simple.
