Anoying noise under the hood.

Which sounds more likely to be the souce of an anoying 'flapping' noise that sounds like it's coming from under that hood: the 'fresh' air door or warn-out hood hinges caused by the flow of air from a bug deflector? Any other ideas are welcome! Where is the 'fresh' aid door on a '96 Tacoma? Believe it or not, years ago my father owned an S10 that he had to replace the hood hinges twice because of the bug deflector causing wind stress due to air flow on the back of the hood. At least that's what the Chevy mechanic blamed the failure on.

Thanks rb
