Consistent Headlight Failure

About a year ago, i replaced both my headlights with the Sylvania SilverStar headlights on a 96 Tacoma. About 6 months later, the passenger-side headlight failed. I replaced it, then 6 months or so later again, the same side has failed again?!?!

Any ideas what might be causing the failure of the passenger side headlight, so quickly? The original Toyota headlights worked for 8 years!

I had the same problem, Only I was using Hella Bulbs, the pass. side burned out after a few months.I too the Hella back and explained it had only been a few months, they replaced it. After a few months SAME THING. I replaced that side with an original and left the other Hella in. Still working after 3 years. It just seemed to be the right side

I had a SilverStar fail in about 6 months too, but the replacement lasted longer. I chalked it up to a defective lamp.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to AutoTechnica Silver Max

100/90w xenon bulbs in my 1990 Hilux 4WD (LN106). Bulbs blew regularly, having developed large blisters. The auto parts shop refused to believe that I hadn't handled the bulbs with bare hands (I hadn't) 'cos the blisters on the glass were about fingerprint size.

Turned out to be a bum wiring job when the relay switches were fitted. The auto electrician had wired the lights so that the 'dip' filament remained on when 'full-beam' was selected. The bulbs simply overheated. Lucky I didn't cook my reflectors.
