Landcruiser Driveline Clunk

I have a 92 Landcruiser and when driving if i let up on the pedal, then step on it again i will hear and feel a clunk. It is a little worse after i have driven 2 or 3 miles. I had 4 new toyota u-joints installed thinking that would help, but it did'nt. Anyone have a idea of where to look next. It only has 91K

I had a similar problem after I had the rear main seal replaced. What I found out was that they left the shift linkage loose and it would try to slip out of gear. Is your floor shifter loose? If so you need to tighten the bolt that holds it to the transmission. Good luck.

Make sure the driveshaft yokes are lubed and check your motor mounts. Either one of these can cause the clunk you described.

Thanks, the drive shaft yokes and new ujoints are all lubed, and two weeks ago i had new motor & trans mounts instaled, the clunk is still there?

It is play or slack in the gears and shafts which make up the drivetrain. Later models have a viscous coupling by the centre diff to stiffen things up so as to prevent the clunk sound. Drive on and if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it LOL
