New temp sensor - seal or not?

My existing temp sensor(for the gauge, not the FI) is intermittent so I bought a new one from the dealer. Their parts guy said no gasket is needed, and none shown on his computer, just install it bare. A call to a different dealer resulted in "use teflon plumbing tape". Called the original dealer back and they say not to use the tape as an electrical connection must be made.

I'm concerned the sensor will leak if I put it in dry. What is the correct thing to do here?

If you use Teflon tape or paste make sure you tighten the sensor up good. Don't strongarm it, just tighten it down pretty tight. When you do this you should get an electrical connection and no leaks. HTH, davidj92
