Speaker lead polarity

I replaced the front speakers in my Tundra today and was hoping I got the wires right. I hooked the red lead to the large, + terminal on the speaker. It was connected to the large terminal on the oem speakers but they weren't marked + or - thanks, andrea

Usually the blades of the terminal are different. The positive terminal has a wider blade.

Easy way to tell if the speaker is not marked with a polarity value is to use a small AA battery, anything with 1.5 volts will work.

Tape a wire to each end of the batttery. Take one of the battery wires and touch it to the speaker terminal. Then take the other wire and touch it to the other speaker terminal.

If the speaker cone moves out the polarity will be the same as the battery markings.

Positive battery lead will be postive on the speaker and so forth. If not, and the speaker moves inwards then the polarity is reversed.

Hope this helps you.

Use a 9 volt battery. It has the perfect spacing for testing polarity.
