Tire/wheel/steering question

I have a 1990 2WD base model which features no power steering. I need new tires and am considering upgrading to 15 in. from the factory 14's. Question is will this have any effect on the steering effort? Will it get better, worse or no difference?

Thanks for your help.

If you keep the same width and offset wheel and run a similar width tire, then there should be no change. Run a wider wheel or one that sticks out wider due to an offset change, or run a much wider tire and the steering will be heavier, especially at a stop or at low speeds. It is possible to add power steering to the truck, get all the parts off a donor truck of similar vintage and engine, its basically a bolt-on installation.
