Toyota Tacoma oil dipstick for the automatic transmission

Does anybody know where I can find under the hood the dipstick for the oil of the automatic transmission for the Toyota Tacoma 05 ??? I tried hard but I could not find it. I could find only the engine oil dipstick.

Help will be appreciated Thanks Waldo

There isn't one. It is a sealed tranny so we will have to take it in for service at 100,000 km (?).

I would prefer to have a dipstick just to make sure the tranny doesn't have a slow leak that could go unnoticed. If it does go dry I would like to be able to top it up myself and drive it to the shop and have to get it towed.

I guess we'll have to hope the idiot lights work.

Every now and then, Toyota pulls a real boneheaded stunt. Want to bet this nonsense will bite Toyota (and Taco owners) in the ass?

My nephew's 2005 Chevy Colorado has no transmission dipstick...

What???? That's ridiculous. Do you know if the '05 Tundra's the same?

It is not "sealed." It has a drain plug and fill plug, just like a differential or transfer case.

If you don't have a red puddle under the truck where you park, and don't have oil slung under the bottom of the truck, you probably have all the fluid still inside the transmission.

At least in the Tundra, the fluid is a long life product, Toyota WS ATF (or WR or whatever...not Dexron-III and not T-IV).
