Used Engine importers/suppliers

I keep hearing about companies who import used engines from Japan.

1. Does anybody have names or websites of these suppliers?

1. What's the advantage of going with an imported engine opposed to a local supplier (if you can find one)?

I live in Prairie Canada. There aren't any engines available through the salvage yards. Eastern Canada doesn't seem any better. My buddy from Ontario called me hoping I could find one for him out here.
