I have my engine rebuilt and I would like to show you some pictures of it, but I don?t have any website right now to put them :-( (Mine was closed)
It was an AB engine (1300 DP) until last month. It was rebuild stock but 1600 during the last 4 weeks. The case was split and the crankshaft was ok. It wasn?t necessary to re-ground it so I only had to replace the following
1- A new stock camshaft. The old camshaft was completely worn. The lobe was 1.6mm shorter 2- New oil pump 3- New lifters 4- New bearings 5- New pushrod tubes 6- Crankshaft oil seal 7- New (used) camshaft gear 8- New (used) distributor drive worm gear 9- New set of 1600 pistons and cylinder 10- New (used) 1600 manifold (the pre heater pipe is blocked) 11- New (used) 34-Pict 3 Solex carb 12- New gaskets screws and washers 13- The head were open to 1600 bore 14- New valve adjust screws and locknuts 15- New fan belt 16- New clutchThe electric parts were new and I had already fitted a Pertronix ignition on the distributor
Everything was assembly and today it fired up for the first time. There was an oil leak on one pushrod tube that will be fixed.
The cooling flaps and the thermostat are back to the cooling system. The guy that is rebuilding it told me that was the first engine that is was rebuilding a engine keeping flaps and the thermostat on the last 15 years?so I had to convince him to put them back. The engine will be putted back on the car maybe tomorrow I can?t wait to drive it. This car was bought by my father 33 years ago for about 380 euros and I spend a little more than that only to rebuild the engine.
