66 4-way hazard switch with flasher circuit

I've converted my 66 from 6 volts to 12 and my hazards have never worked since I did this. I've been without them for a while but I'm thinking I'd like to get this working again. I have the 9-pin flasher and was wondering what the wiring entailed to get the 4-way hazard switch working with the 9-pin flasher.

Thanks, John

The 9-pin flasher was designed to work on 6V. It incorporates a relay which does the Hazard function as well. I've heard that the thing will work on 12V, but matbe something has happened to it. Anyway, there are only 2 wires (plus Gnd) from the dash switch to the flasher: "S" and "49a".

If you don't have one, download a diagram here:

If you can verify the switch wiring, assume that the flasher needs work.

Interesting.. I thought it was a 12 volt flasher for some reason. I made the conversion a long time ago and I thought I replaced the flasher as well. That might explain why the indicator bulb initially lights up, then goes out, but the lights will still flash. Probably due to current overload?

I looked at your website and I'm thinking of fabricating your replacement for the flasher unit. It was very helpful. Thanks for the info.

The original '66 unit was 6V. If you replaced it, the new one may be 12V. If you did not replace it, the lamp current is now roughly 1/2 what it should be; that may explain why the indicator doesn/t work right.
