71 Auto Sick Up date and a few Questions....

I took my Bug yesterday back to my Mechanic. He confirrmed today that it was the fan belt and has tightened it up. He's going to check the points and the timing as well as change the oil.

Which would be best/cheapest. All four of my Fenders ahve small dings. Should I have them repaired by a body shop, replace them with good ones from another car (If I can find good ones) or new fenders?

Also the floor pan has some rust and a few small holes. Instead of putting in new floor pans I want to have a local welding shop touch them up. But what do I need to spray on it to stop rust from comming back?

The metal behind the back seat and the engine is rusted out. I have a parts car that has one that is better but some rust. What's the best way to cut it out? Or should I just have a new one frabracted? A new one from Aircooled.net is 184 + shipping.

I want to add NOn Stock Mirros on Driver and Passanger side that are bigger. What's the best way to mount them?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks Steven

Take a deep breath.

Buy an economy size bucket of Bondo.

Apply liberally to all affected areas.

Seriously. When you go to take those rusty fenders off, the bolts will break, the nuts will pull out and you have a big mess. Cover over the dings and pick up a few spray cans.

Ditto the rear parcel shelf. That will turn into a

*huge* project.

The last one of these I got involved in sat up on saw horses for 10 years. (not kidding).
