aircooled cooking

Hi,

Last night I was cooking an empanada (spanish pastry cake filled with tuna) and I had some dough leftovers, so I started playing and I did this.....

what a disappointment :( I thought you'd posted a photo of food cooking on your engine. It looks nice, though.

Mmmm, interesting, didn't think about that.... Would the engine tin be so hot that you could actually fry an egg on top? I leave the questions to the experts.

It's a shame that pesky belt gets in the way, because otherwise I bet you could fit a jiffy pop in there, mm motor oil scented popcorn.

BTW: Related dirty joke: What's the difference between Empanada and Lambada (the dance style where the couple dances DAMN near each other)?

-in an Empanada, the meat is inside ;)

I've been entertaining myself with the idea of fabricating a level surface, attached to the exhaust header, accessible by opening a "door" on top, in front of the crank pulley. To keep it clean and prevent stuff from falling out, you'd want to actually make a "frying box". Wrap the food in aluminum foil and it should stay clean. Drop the foiled bundle of yummies in the box and go out for a ride :)

With all due respect Ant, I do not speak Spanish/Portugese or Italian fluent, buuut Empanada does not imply Tuna filling? Does it?? I have had it in other variations..

There's a book on this subject. Google on "Manifold Destiny."

I used to use precooked skinless sausages in foil, and sit them just bu the sparkplugs, over the head. Worked very well :-) I did once get a small peice of foil jammed in the fan... it made a cool whirring noise :-)

Latest issue of VW Trends has an article on preparing a meal on your VW engine. I believe it was the editorial column.

As soon as I read this I thought about about an earlier idea I had to cook Hot-dogs in foil on my header. It oretty much has the perfect "trough" to do so.

Engine got changed but my header remained the same.

Well, the typical typical empanada from the north of Spain does contain tuna, although I believe they also prepare similar things along Southamerica and they must have all sorts of filling (wonderfull mix of gastronomic cultures!).

Pd.- Today the VW empanada exists no more...... yummy

standard empanada in Chile has a filling called 'pino'. minced meat, and onions fried with little oil. add a black olive, some raisins and boiled eggs for the full flavor...
