Another "how much is it worth?" 67 VW (again)

do your own damn dirty work.

sheesh.

if you want a better vw, go find one. it's not that difficult. you've been given plenty of good advice here, the best of which is not to buy this car at any price. it needs A LOT of work, and i wouldn't trust the engine building skills of anyone who thought they could get $3k for that rusty pile of junk.

hit the classifieds at thesamba.com and start looking.

...if thats within your price range, just be patient and keep watching the samba. Even in your state $3k should buy a very nice beetle. Just what years are you looking for? Stock or custom?

Perhaps you didn't read the first post. I've been searching for years, there just isn't any for sale around here. And I was just joking about calling the guy. I think you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something.

i did read your first post.

my recommendation to read the classifieds at the samba stands. you might have to go out of town to find the car you want. life is like that sometimes. if you're not willing to do some legwork, you're not prepared to own a volkswagen.

no, i just have a problem with stupidity. that's the case no matter which side of the bed i wake up on.

There definitely are some vw-less places. Where do you live?

Surely you could buy a decent car from a "dry" state and have it shipped over... for way less than £3,000...

So who's the lady that posed for your picture, Randy?

North Iowa. I've seen two VWs for sale in the past 6 years, the one that started this thread and one that sold before I could even ask what he wanted for it. And that's withing 100-200 miles of where I live. Saw a few for sale in Minneapolis (2 hours drive, not bad but still none for sale there either) on eBay but they were very expensive pristine ones. There are 3 or

4 driving around not counting the local paper owner who has a nice collection. I see maybe 1 VW on the road per month. I envy you Californians, Texans, and others that seem to have plenty for sale. Maybe you could ship a truckload or two out this way, I'm sure they would be snatched up right away.

rebecca.starthinker.com is a subdomain of Starthinker.com. Randy owns

and I run off of that and it was he that let all his subdomains expire. That sure was quick legwork, though, are you trying to snag my domain?

If it helps, here's another just two and a half driving hours from Mason City. 1972 Standard Beetle. About 100,060 original miles on chassis. Rebuilt 1600cc DP engine. GUARANTEED RUST FREE througout. $4,500. That's the going price on such clean Bugs in our area.

Ok, so I finally go and take a look at the pictures. He wants $3,000 for that? Personally, I'd buy that car for under $300.00 only to use as a parts car for a better one!

Like I said before, you could take a drive down here to Texas and I'll sell you a car, as is, that makes that car look like the wreck that it truly is. This is the car I'd sell you for that same $3,000.00. All you have to do is get here with come cash and take it home!:~)

This 1970 Beetle is also a prize winner! In the last show we had here it took home the Road Warrior prize!

Never said it was perfect. Besides, it looks much better now. I've done some of the body work and will finish it soon...if all this blasted rain will ever stop! I was hoping to do paint and body work this week and next week on the '71 Ghia and this '70 Beetle. The Beetle needs the front apron pulled out slightly (and I have a custom puller designed and built by a friend who did paint and body work on aircooled VWs at a dealership when they were new cars!)

If I finish the paint work on the '70 and get it all slicked up with new tires, proper wheels, put a cheap radio in it, and make it a great little daily driver that looks good the price will find itself adjusted. I'm just offering someone the opportunity to get a car she cannot find anywhere near where she lives. And I'd like to sell it now at a discounted price and let her finish the work (I've already rebuilt the engine) that it needs. That way I get the driveway space back and she gets a discount!:~)

Dallas, Texas. This is one of the wettest Junes anyone can remember. Last week was nice. A week or so before that it rained for about eight days out of nine. It started raining a few days ago and it has rained or stormed some every day since. There is rain and/or storms in the forecast for the entire next week. I'm tired of all the rain already! I live in Texas, not Seattle!

If you are willing to consider some in Colorado, I can recommend Al Burkhart (Al Bugs Me) in Ft. Collins. He has helped people find cars in the past and is one of the good guys.

I realise that Colorado isn't exactly close to Iowa, but it's a lot closer than California.
