Hello - I have a '71 SB DP 1600cc Auto-Stick engine. Please help, I have several questions. I pulled the engine out to rebuild, and I'm having trouble getting the gland nut off.
Where can I buy a special autostick flex plate holding tool? (no flywheel)
Where can I buy a special autostick gland nut removing tool? (no flywheel, so no torque meister / master) Is their an alternative rather than the cheaters bars. I put so much weight trying to remove the gland nut that it snapped a brand new Craftsman 1/2 breaker bar. Standing at the back of the engine, your try to turn the gland nut counterclockwise, right?
Would it be possible to pull the crank shaft out with flex plate still on it. Then take them to the shop to have it removed. Or, would they have trouble since it is not in the engine and not be able to remove it?
Also, is the gland nut on the Auto-Stick different than regular. I heard they have no bearings. I have never seen an autostick gland nut for sale, would a regular one work.
Rick had sent me to Kymco for the holding tool and their webpage search just does not work in my area. Their catalog is not up yet either.
Last but not least. I am not worried about damaging the flex plate. I have purchased a new one since I allready destroyed the old one.
